Shaun Butcher, Head of Highways Asset at LCC said: "These works are being put in at Edinburgh Road to make a big improvement to the condition and long-term durability of the footpath there.

“It’s a serious rebuilding of the walkways which will cost around £250,000 to complete and will ultimately provide a safer and more reliable surface for pedestrians to use.”

Location of works

The works will be carried out from Harrowby Lane to Queensway.

Dates and times

The works will begin today (Monday, April 27) with a planned end date Tuesday, August 4. Working hours will be between 07.30 and 17.30. No weekend works are planned.

Traffic management

A road closure is required for the duration of the works with a diversion route in place throughout.

Diversion route

The signed diversion route will be; Princess Drive/Hamilton Road/Queensway and vice versa.

Shaun Butcher added: “The work involves removing the existing footpath and vehicle accesses points, like drop kerbs, and then replacing them with a newly laid surface and improved access and pedestrian crossing points.

“A road closure will be in place for the duration of scheme and access will be maintained for residents throughout. Our team will do everything possible to get these works completed as quickly as they can.

“I would like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding whilst we are delivering these improvements to this part of Grantham.”
