Residents are being encouraged to take a moment to think before throwing items away as part of a new “Reduce First, Recycle Last” campaign.
The campaign highlights how many everyday items – from furniture and clothes to small electricals and garden waste – can often be reused, repaired or passed on instead of being taken to a Household Waste Recycling Centre.
By making small changes at home, residents can save time and effort while helping items stay in use for longer.
Rachel Stamp, waste partnership and projects manager, at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We know that many items’ people throw away could still be used, repaired or passed on. This campaign is about encouraging residents to take a moment to think before making a trip, and to consider whether there’s another option first. Even small changes can save time and help keep items in use for longer.”
The message is simple: Before making a trip, take a look at what you’re throwing away and consider whether there’s another option.
