Donington Cowley Endowed Primary School has been recognised for its inclusive approach to education, helping every child thrive.

Cllr Natalie Oliver, executive member for children’s services, recently visited the school to celebrate their being awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark. She was accompanied by Cllr Paul Lock, Cllr Jane King and Martin Smith, assistant director for children’s education.

The Inclusion Quality Mark recognises a school’s commitment to creating an environment in which all pupils can realise their full potential.

Cllr Oliver said: “It was inspiring to see first-hand the school’s ambitious approach to ensuring every child feels like they belong. The care and commitment of the staff make all pupils feel valued, and they’ve succeeded in creating a calm and nurturing environment in which everyone can do their best. Congratulations to the staff, governors, pupils and families on this well deserved recognition of all their hard work.”

Local county councillor Cllr Jane King is a governor at the school. She said: “The school makes an outstanding contribution to our local community, and I want to congratulate them on this well-deserved reward. They really do give local children the best start in life, and I’m sure that under the assured leadership of the senior team their successes will continue.”

Executive headteacher Sophie Foston added: “It was lovely to have the opportunity to share our inclusion journey with members of local government. It is always a pleasure to welcome visitors to our school to see the fantastic facilities and learning opportunities we offer and meet our incredible children.

“We are incredibly proud of our IQM achievement which acknowledges the efforts and commitment of our entire school community to provide an enriched, inspiring and inclusive environment, fostering a sense of belonging and offering all children the opportunity to thrive and become the best versions of themselves.”
