Works are happening now on Ropery Road in Gainsborough because of a sinkhole
There’s a problem with the sub-base beneath the road, which requires immediate attention to keep the area safe.
As the emergency response has progressed, it has became clear that additional works are needed. Because Ropery Road is narrow, the three-way temporary signals have been in place but are now no longer suitable. A full road closure is now required so the work can be carried out safely.
We recognise that this will cause inconvenience for residents living on Ropery Road and for pupils and families travelling to Mercers Wood Academy. This work cannot be delayed due to the safety risks involved, and we will complete it as quickly as possible.
Estimated duration
The works are expected to take around seven days to complete.
Diversion route
A diversion route will be in place for all vehicles, including HGVs.
Diversion route: South on Ropery Road / West on A156 Ashcroft Street / North on A159 Trinity Street / West on C214 Front Street / South on Ropery Road and vice versa.
Access for residents
A temporary footpath will be in place for pedestrians who need to reach their homes on Ropery Road. Parking will be affected. As all parking on this street is on road, some residents will not be able to park close to their homes while the closure is in place.
