Works to improve the A153 in Anwick will start in July.
Cllr David East, executive member for highways and local county councillor for Heckington, said: “This section of the A153 is starting to fail, so we will be carrying out major repairs, in the form of a complete road reconstruction, next month.
“As part of this, we’ll be excavating a mile of the current carriageway and replacing it using over 6,000 tonnes of road-building materials.
“While on-site, we’ll also be laying all new road markings and road studs, as well as undertaking six weeks of verge works to facilitate overedge drainage which will reduce water damage to the carriageway in the future.
“Carrying these additional works out at the same time as rebuilding the road will not only save us money that can be used on other areas of the road network, but it also means less disruption for local Anwick residents and commuters thanks to us not needing to return to this stretch of road in near future.
“These improvements will offer tremendous benefits to Anwick residents, commuters, school transport and agricultural vehicles using the A153 on a daily basis. Not only will it mean smoother, safer journeys, but also a reduced likelihood of potholes and emergency repairs in the future thanks to the full reconstruction approach to the road.

By working through the night, we can deliver these much-needed repairs while ensuring residents, commuters and local businesses can continue to moving around Anwick with as little impact as possible.
