Andrew Creasey, County Programme Manager at LCC said: "These works are being put in on Ferry Road between Bardney and Stainfield to make a big improvement to the condition and long-term durability of the route.

“It’s a significant resurfacing scheme which will cost around £670,000 to complete and will ultimately provide a safer and more reliable road.”

Cllr David East, executive member for Highways at LCC, added: “This type of resurfacing scheme is a key tool in our highways strategy, helping us to take a proactive approach to maintaining and improving our network.

“By investing in durable solutions like this, we are reducing the need for repeated reactive repairs and providing longer-lasting benefits for residents and road users. It’s great to see this system continuing to prove its value across the county.”

Location of works
The works will be carried out on Ferry Road between the B1202 and the Stainfield junction. To keep traffic disruption to a minimum, the road will be reopened at the weekend.

Dates and times
The works are now underway with a planned end date of Monday, June 29. Working hours will be between 07.30 and 17.00. No weekend works are planned with the road remaining open on Saturdays and Sundays.

Traffic management
A 24-hour road closure is required for the duration of the works with a diversion route in place throughout.

Diversion route
The signed diversion route will be: B1202 Wragby Road / B1190 Branston Causeway / B1202 Potterhanworth Road / B1188 Lincoln Road / A15 Lincoln Eastern Bypass / Greetwell / Fiskerton Road / Ferry Road / Short Ferry Road and vice versa.

Andrew Creasey added: “The work involves removing approximately 200mm of the existing carriageway and replacing it with a new surface, alongside structural improvements where needed. In areas affected by ground movement, a reinforcement grid will be installed to improve long-term durability.

“This route has required frequent reactive repairs due to ongoing deterioration, which has been frustrating for those using it. These works will address those issues by providing a smoother surface with improved skid resistance and overall ride quality.

“Across the scheme, around 3,700 tonnes of material will be removed and replaced. The planings will be taken to storage to be recycled and used in future projects as part of our commitment to a circular economy and minimising waste.

“A road closure will be in place for the duration of the scheme and access for properties within the closure will be maintained. Our team will do everything possible to complete these works as quickly as they can and we will reopen the road during weekends.

“I would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding whilst we deliver these improvements.”
