A new tool is making it easier to learn about equipment that can make life easier for those who need support with everyday tasks around the house.
The Equipment House is a new tool designed to help individuals stay safe, well and independent at home. Developed in collaboration with the council’s occupational therapy team, it shows how equipment like tap turners, bed raisers and shower chairs could help make daily tasks easier.
It can be found on the Connect to Support website at https://lincolnshire.connecttosupport.org/equipment-house/
Cllr Steve Clegg, executive member for adult care and health, said: “As we grow older or face challenges from illness or disability, everyday tasks can sometimes feel more difficult.
“Small changes and the right equipment can make a big difference. The Equipment House provides practical examples of equipment that may be available to support daily living.
“It perfectly complements the recently launched Gadget, Tools and Technology House, which highlights the benefits of new technology.
“Both tools are available on the Connect to Support website and are a great way to familiarise yourself with equipment that could make a very real difference to your everyday life.”
How it works
- Click on a room in the house to see equipment options
- Select an item to view details about what it is, how it can help, the benefits, and things to consider
One resident benefiting from the council’s occupational therapy service said: “I got a seat for the toilet and a shower seat and ramp and I'm able to take showers safely on my own.”
Another commented that they can now “shower unaided, which is an amazing feeling as I feel I’m slowly getting my independence back for my personal needs.”
