More resurfacing work for Lincoln

Sewell, road, works, plan, map, highways

Sewell road is getting an improvement scheme at the end of the month.

The nightwork plan will start at the end of June and go on into early July. Shaun Butcher, Highways Manager at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “These works are needed to improve the road surface and keep it in good condition for years to come. By carrying out this scheme we are making sure that people can use the road safely.

“Carriageway resurfacing like this is part of our usual maintenance programme and will give this stretch of Sewell Road a fresh surface that doesn’t have the defects it has now.”

Location of works

The works will take place on Sewell Road from the junction with St Annes Road up to the rear hospital entrance.

Dates and times

The overnight work starts on Tuesday 30 June and is planned to finish on Tuesday 7 July. The hours will be from 19.00  to 06.00. There will be no work on Saturday or Sunday nights.

Traffic management

A road closure will be in place during the overnight works. Residents will still be able to get to their homes and traffic management staff will be on site to help wherever needed.

Diversion route

The diversion route will be: St Annes Road / Greetwell Road / Allenby Road / Monks Road / Millman Road and vice versa.

Access information

Access to the hospital will be through the main entrance on Greetwell Road but note that there will be NO ACCESS from Sewell Road. This has been agreed with the hospital and necessary signage will be in place throughout.

Additional information

The closure also affects one of the hospital’s staff car parks. The hospital is arranging an alternative access for its staff.

Shaun Butcher added: “The team will be resurfacing the carriageway and carrying out the other bits of maintenance needed to keep it in good order.

“We’re doing the £130,000 scheme overnight, so it causes less disruption. We’ll get it done as quickly as we can with as little disruption as is at all possible.

“Thanks to residents, hospital staff and everyone else affected for bearing with us while we get this essential work done.”
