Yarborough Hill Embankment, Lincoln - June 2026

An overview of progress on the Yarborough Hill embankment repair project.

What we achieved in June

  • Built site compound to handle and store the materials required to build the project
  • Constructed haul road from the base of Whittons Park to the top of the park
  • Installed tree protection grids to protect tree roots 
  • Stripped and stockpiled topsoil for later re-use
  • Started construction of the first layers of the new embankment, below the retaining walls
  • Installed additional earthworks grids to improve slope stability 
  • Started new ground water drainage system

What’s happening in July

  • Remove the existing retaining walls
  • Constructed more layers of the new embankment
  • Continue to install earthworks grids to continue to improve the stability of the new embankment
  • Install new small block retaining wall
  • Complete new groundwater drainage system

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Layby permanently closed
  • Narrowed lanes and temporary traffic signals when required throughout the project

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

  • Night-time Road closures on Yarborough Road from 7pm to 6am from early to mid August
