An overview of progress on the Yarborough Hill embankment repair project.
What we achieved in June
- Built site compound to handle and store the materials required to build the project
- Constructed haul road from the base of Whittons Park to the top of the park
- Installed tree protection grids to protect tree roots
- Stripped and stockpiled topsoil for later re-use
- Started construction of the first layers of the new embankment, below the retaining walls
- Installed additional earthworks grids to improve slope stability
- Started new ground water drainage system
What’s happening in July
- Remove the existing retaining walls
- Constructed more layers of the new embankment
- Continue to install earthworks grids to continue to improve the stability of the new embankment
- Install new small block retaining wall
- Complete new groundwater drainage system
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- Layby permanently closed
- Narrowed lanes and temporary traffic signals when required throughout the project
Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures
- Night-time Road closures on Yarborough Road from 7pm to 6am from early to mid August
