Essential works are happening later this month to keep things flowing safely
Adam Round, Head of Highways Design Services at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "This is a programme of essential works happening to improve safety and prevent further deterioration of the existing culvert under a road."
Location of works
The works will take place on Meadow Lane in North Hykeham, around 250 metres south‑east of Sharp Walk. The culvert passes beneath the carriageway at the location shown on the supplied map.
Dates and times
The works are planned to begin on Thursday, July 23 and are scheduled to finish on Tuesday, August 25, subject to suitable weather.
Traffic management
A full road closure will be in place for the duration of the scheme between Brant Road and ‘Sharp Walk’. Access to the properties along this road will be maintained.
Diversion route
A full road closure will be in place. The signed diversion route will be: Brant Road/Newark Road/Hykeham Road/Lincoln Road/ Chapel Lane and vice versa.
Adam Round added: "The verges, edges of the road and some of the adjacent watercourse needs to be excavated by a considerable depth, so that we can safely extend the structure and rebuild the road supporting headwalls. Because of the lack of space available, a road closure is unfortunately the only option.
“We will do everything we can to complete the works as quickly as possible. I’d like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding while we carry out these improvements.”
