Section of A15 through Folkingham set for full rebuild and improvements

Folkingham Welcome Sign

A major scheme to improve safety, accessibility and the condition of roads through Folkingham will begin this summer.

As part of the scheme, a 1km section of the A15 will be fully reconstructed, alongside measures designed to make it easier and safer for people to move around the village.

The works will include road reconstructing along the A15, Market Place and Billingborough Road, alongside additional improvements such as narrowing sections of the carriageway and installing a new uncontrolled crossing point.

Cllr David East, executive member for highways, said: “This is an important investment in Folkingham that will benefit everyone who lives in, works in or visits the village. As well as providing a smoother and more reliable road surface, the scheme will help reduce the need for future major repairs and the disruption that comes with them.

“The additional measures, including carriageway narrowing and a new crossing point, have been designed to improve safety and make it easier for pedestrians to move around the village, creating a more welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.”

Cllr Martin Hill, county councillor for Folkingham Rural, added: “Folkingham is a historic and architecturally important village, with the busy A15 running through its centre. These improvements will help strike a better balance between keeping traffic moving and creating a safer, more attractive environment for the people who live, work and spend time here.

“Alongside the road reconstruction, the new crossing point and traffic-calming measures will make it easier for people to access local businesses, community facilities and services.”

This scheme is part of a £12 million programme focused on maintaining the county’s key strategic routes and ensuring they remain safe and reliable for everyone who uses them.
