Anglian Water crew is on site in Pinchbeck and could have their asset repaired this week
Here’s the latest news about the ongoing works at Enterprise Way in Pinchbeck to repair the sunken section of road near the Stephenson Avenue junction.
After extensive investigations it was found that a number of assets within the road were damaged, including the surface water drainage system and the sewer.
Anglian Water has been on site for several days and has now successfully completed the repair works which has included patch lining the damaged sewer. AW is now in the process of backfilling the excavation and removing equipment – a more complex operation than usual as no fewer than 17 utility services are sited within the excavation itself.
The plans are that Anglian Water will hand the site back to LCC this Wednesday (July 22nd). Once that happens we will complete the final reinstatement, kerbing and footway works as quickly as we can.
Until the road is reinstated the signed diversion remains via; B1356 Spalding Road and B1180 Wardentree Lane.

Specialist crews working with LCC have been carrying out extensive drainage investigations on the road, and across a much wider area than before, in a bid to finally solve the persistent road issues in Pinchbeck.
Enterprise Way has had problems like this occur several times over recent years. Each time the issue was repaired, but kept returning. This time the team widened the inspection area so they could look at everything that might be feeding into the problem, not just the localised area to where the sinkhole appeared.
By taking in a much larger area to investigate all drainage, utilities, underground settling and other factors, crews have now been able to identify several elements within the surrounding drainage systems that help explain why the problem has been so persistent. These findings are now guiding the work on site.
Working together to reduce disruption
Although the council and Anglian Water each have their own work to do, both organisations are coordinating closely. Information has been shared and each part of the reinstatement activity is planned together to keep disruption as low as possible.
Ashley Behan, Traffic Manager at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We know how disruptive this closure is for residents, businesses and those travelling through the area, and I’d like to thank everyone for their continued patience.
“We will continue to do everything we can to complete the works as quickly as possible, while making sure they are done right. Local businesses remain open as usual, and I’d encourage road users to allow extra time for journeys in and around the area whilst these works are ongoing.”
