An overview of progress on the North Hykeham Relief Road project.
What we achieved in July
- Continued site clearance, fencing, topsoil strip and preparation works across the scheme
- Continued haul road construction and access works across key sections of the route
- Completed South Hykeham Road site access, with works progressed between the A46 and South Hykeham Road
- Installed cabins at the A46 compound, alongside car park construction, drainage, ducting and site access works
- Construction of the new PMA track and preparation of the materials processing area
- Progressed bulk excavation and earthworks embankment construction at Grantham Road / Lincoln Cliff and across the wider scheme
- Progressed attenuation pond preparation, with drainage works commenced to ponds and outfalls, including pipework and headwalls
- Carried out works to construct the temporary River Witham bridge, including bank seat construction and on-site fabrication of the temporary bridge structure
- Built piling platforms and started test piling works at Station Road, Wath Lane and River Witham locations
- Continued service protection slab works and construction of the compound area at Station Road
- Delivered social impact activities, including support for Waddington Play Park and engagement with local schools and community events

- Continue earthworks, embankment construction and material processing at Grantham Road / Lincoln Cliff
- Continue works to the A46 compound, including cabling, drainage, ducting and car park construction
- Continue drainage works to attenuation ponds and outfalls, including pipework and headwall installation
- Continue test piling works at Station Road, Wath Lane and River Witham
- Continue construction of the temporary River Witham bridge, including launch preparations and works to move the structure over the river
- Continue utility diversions with National Grid and Anglian Water across the scheme
- Continue dust mitigation measures around Grantham Road / Lincoln Cliff, including installation of a dust barrier
- Prepare work areas for future construction phases
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- Various alterations to Public Rights of Way near to where the relief road is being built
- A full overview of alterations to nearby Public Rights of Way
- Temporary traffic signals and reduced speed limits at South Hykeham Road, Brant Road, Grantham Road, and Station Road to facilitate construction of accesses and haul road crossings
- Closure of Somerton Gate Lane
- Diversion route via Hill Top / Station Road / Brant Road.
- Access will be maintained for residents, the allotments, and local businesses from the Station Road / Hill Top end.
