Works to improve the A153 in Anwick are continuing to make strong progress, with the project remaining on track to finish in early September.
The scheme forms part of Lincolnshire County Council's £12 million Strategic Route Surfacing (SRS) programme and will provide a smoother, safer and more resilient route for the thousands of motorists, businesses, school transport and agricultural vehicles that use the A153 every day.
By fully reconstructing the road and improving drainage at the same time, the council is helping reduce the likelihood of potholes and costly emergency repairs in the future, providing better long-term value for taxpayers while minimising future disruption for road users.
Cllr David East, executive member for highways, said: "Since starting on site three weeks ago, we've made excellent progress on the A153 in Anwick and the scheme remains firmly on track.
"We've already completed the section west of the village, laying more than 3,500 tonnes of new road-building materials and surfacing.
"The team has also benefited from a long spell of dry weather, allowing work to progress exactly as planned despite the recent high temperatures.
"Once complete, this scheme will provide a much smoother and safer road for everyone who uses the A153. Just as importantly, by rebuilding the road properly and improving drainage at the same time, we're helping prevent future deterioration, reducing the need for disruptive repairs and making sure taxpayers get the best possible value from this investment."
Work will now focus on excavating and reconstructing the section of road east of Anwick, with the full project expected to be completed by early September.
In total, around 6,000 tonnes of new road-building materials and surfacing will be used across the scheme. Verge works are also being carried out to improve drainage, helping prevent water damage and extending the life of the carriageway.
Works are taking place overnight on weekday evenings to minimise disruption for residents and road users.
Cllr East added: "Projects like this are about much more than simply resurfacing roads. They're about protecting some of Lincolnshire's most important transport routes for years to come.
"The A153 plays a vital role in connecting communities, supporting local businesses and agriculture, providing access to schools and healthcare, and keeping people and goods moving across the county.
"Investing in these roads before they deteriorate further is the most cost-effective approach. It means fewer emergency repairs, less disruption in the future and a more reliable highway network for everyone."
The council's £12 million Strategic Route Surfacing programme focuses on maintaining Lincolnshire's busiest and most strategically important roads, helping keep them safe, reliable and fit for the future.
During 2026/27, major improvements are also being delivered on routes including the A15, A151, A57, A1031, A606 and B1174.
