Spalding Road in Boston is getting the plants cut back and the drains cleaned out
Tree maintenance, vegetation removal and drainage cleansing works will take place on the A16 Spalding Road in Boston later this month.
The nighttime scheme works are being carried out to ultimately help improve visibility for road users (including at the nearby level crossing) while also ensuring the drainage network continues to effectively remove surface water from the carriageway.
Cllr David East, executive member for Highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "These works are being carried out to improve the condition of the highway corridor along the A16 Spalding Road and make it safer for those who use the route.
"By cutting back overhanging vegetation, lifting tree canopies and cleansing drainage assets, we can improve visibility, help surface water drain more effectively and address accessibility issues caused by overgrown vegetation.
"Regular maintenance of our highway assets is vital to keeping the network safe and operating as intended, and these works will help ensure the route remains in good condition for residents, businesses and visitors."
Location of works
The works will take place on the A16 Spalding Road in Boston, between the Liquorpond Street Roundabout and the London Road Roundabout.
Crews will be cutting back vegetation overhanging the carriageway, lifting trees, removing undergrowth and cleansing drainage assets along the route. Some work will also take place on the footpaths.
Dates and times
Work is scheduled to start on Monday, 17 August, and will continue over three consecutive nights, with completion planned for the morning of Thursday, 20 August.
Working hours will be between 8.00pm and 6.00am each night. Boston Borough Council are also carrying out litter picking and kerb sweeping works in conjunction with LCC’s scheme to further reduce disruption to the local traffic network.
Traffic management
To allow the works to be carried out safely, traffic management will be in place throughout the scheme, including a signed diversion route.
The diversion route will follow the A52, A17 and A16.
Pedestrians will continue to have access to the footways during the works. However, pedestrian marshals will be in place to help guide people safely through the area where work is taking place.
Access to homes and businesses along the route will be maintained throughout the works.
