The next phase in Lincolnshire County council’s slab-roads programme is about to begin on Rosemary Crescent in Grantham.
Running as the sixth of a 13‑road programme, Lincolnshire County Council’s ongoing work to renew and maintain ageing concrete roads across the network continues.
The scheme for Rosemary Crescent will replace worn sections of carriageway, refresh the surface and deliver a smoother, more reliable route for residents and road users.
Location of works
The full length of Rosemary Crescent, Grantham.
Dates and times
Surfacing works will take place from Thursday, 27th August to Tuesday, 1st September, between 07:30 and 17:30, Monday to Friday.
Crews will then return on Monday, 21st September to complete saw‑cutting and sealing at joint locations once the new surface has settled. No weekend work is planned.
Traffic management
No diversion route is required as Rosemary Crescent does not form a through‑route.
Access for residents and businesses will be maintained. Some areas may be fenced off while fresh material cures, ensuring the repaired slabs reach full strength before vehicles are allowed to drive over them. Short delays may occur at times, but disruption will be kept to a minimum.
How much and to what end?
Around £77,000 is being invested into the road here. Once complete, the new surface will improve ride quality, increase skid resistance and help reduce traffic noise. The works will also strengthen the road overall and reduce the need for more large-scale repairs in future.
Cllr David East, Executive Member for Highways and Transport at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Our concrete road programme is moving steadily through the county, and Rosemary Crescent is the next important piece of that work.
“These resurfacing schemes give older roads a new lease of life and help us stay ahead of the wear and tear that comes with ageing concrete.
“We’re working across 13 sites this year, and each one helps build a stronger, more resilient network. The crews will be on site throughout these daytime shifts, doing everything they can to keep disruption down while delivering a new road that people will notice straight away.”
