The next phase in a massive concrete road resurfacing scheme for the county is about to happen on Westbrooke Road and Westbrooke Close.
Running as the sixth of a 13-different-roads set of works, Lincolnshire County Council’s ongoing programme to renew and maintain ageing concrete roads across the network is really pushing on.
The work for the Westbrookes will replace worn sections of carriageway, carry out structural repairs where needed and provide a smoother, more reliable surface for residents and road users.
Location of works
Westbrooke Road between Western Crescent and the blockpaved section, along with the full length of Westbrooke Close.
Dates and times
Concrete repairs will take place overnight on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th August. Surfacing work is planned for the nights of Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th September. Crews will then return on Wednesday 23rd September to complete saw‑cutting and sealing at joint locations once the new surface has settled. All work on this job is nightwork to lessen disruption and will be carried out between 20:00 and 06:00, Monday to Friday. No weekend work is planned.
Traffic management
No diversion route is required as the streets involved do not form a through‑route. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained wherever it is safe to do so. Some areas may remain fenced off while deeper excavations are completed and while fresh material cures. These measures ensure the repaired slabs reach full strength before traffic is allowed to drive across them. One lane will remain open for most of the programme to keep vehicles moving, although short delays may occur at times.
The improvement means around £83,000 of funding going into the roads here. Once complete, the new surface will improve ride quality, increase skid resistance and help reduce traffic noise.
Structural repairs to damaged concrete pads will also strengthen the road and reduce the need for more repair work in future.
