This time the specialist road repair crew is getting to work in Grantham.
Work to improve the road surface on Granta Crescent in Grantham gets underway at the start of September. It’s the latest part of Lincolnshire County Council's ongoing concrete road improvement scheme across the county which will see 13 ageing roads put right and made ready for the future.
Location of works
The scheme will see the existing road surface dug out and then entirely rebuilt along the full length of Granta Crescent, helping to improve driving conditions and maintain the road for years to come.
Dates and times
Surfacing works are scheduled to take place on 1 and 2 September, with post-jointing works planned for 22 September. All works will be carried out between 7.30am and 5.30pm on weekdays only.
Traffic management
As Granta Crescent is not a through route, no diversion route will be required. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained wherever possible throughout the works, with efforts made to keep disruption to a minimum.
The project will involve replacing the top 40mm of the existing road surface. Once the new surface has settled, crews will return to saw-cut and seal the joints, helping to protect the carriageway from water ingress and future deterioration.
Councillor David East, executive member for highways and transport at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "We're investing around £40,000 in this scheme to improve the condition of the road and extend its serviceable life.
"Once finished, drivers will benefit from a smoother surface, improved skid resistance and lower road noise. Carrying out this kind of work now helps prevent the need for more extensive repairs later. It’s a very serious set of works that are happening for three weeks in order to bring this long-wanted improvement to the area.
