Major repairs to the Yarborough Hill embankment have passed the halfway mark, with the project now around 70% complete and on track to finish by the end of September.

Please note that the night-time closures for the Yarborough Hill improvement works have been rescheduled due to recent and forecasted wet weather.
The night closures will now start on Wednesday 9 September from 7pm to 6am for up to one week (weekday evenings only).
Cllr David East, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "Reaching the halfway point is a significant milestone for this important scheme, and I'm very pleased to see the project continuing to make excellent progress.
"These essential works will provide long-term stability for Yarborough Hill and help prevent more serious problems developing in the future. By carrying out this work now, we're not only helping avoid unnecessary disruption in years to come, we're also reducing future maintenance costs so more money can be invested in other important highway improvements across Lincolnshire.
"We've now completed all of the major earthworks, which is the biggest and most challenging element of the job. In fact, around 70% of the overall scheme is now complete.
"When the scheme is finished next month, the carriageway dips, cracks and uneven footways will all have been repaired, creating a much safer route for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and everyone travelling up and down the hill."
The scheme, taking place above Whittons Park, will stabilise the existing slope and address long-standing issues caused by inadequate drainage that has led to the retaining walls beginning to fail.
As part of the scheme, more than 10,000 tonnes of material have been used to reinforce the slope, alongside the installation of 275 metres of new drainage.
The bank stabilisation element of the scheme has been informed by detailed geotechnical analysis carried out by Lincs Laboratory. Their work has played a key role in shaping the design, highlighting the importance of using robust, evidence-based approaches when delivering major infrastructure projects.
Over the coming weeks, the focus of the project will move from rebuilding the embankment to completing the final stages of construction. This includes installing new kerbs and footways, erecting fencing, carrying out landscaping works and resurfacing Yarborough Road.
Upcoming road closures
To safely complete the resurfacing works, overnight road closures will be required on Yarborough Road starting Wednesday 2 September for up to two weeks, 7pm to 6am (weekday evenings only).
Access for emergency services will be maintained throughout, while signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures. The diversion route will be via Long Leys Road / A57 Saxilby Road / A46 Bypass / Riseholme Road / Yarborough Crescent, and vice versa.
Cllr East added: "We appreciate these overnight closures will cause some inconvenience, but they're the safest and quickest way for us to complete the final resurfacing works while keeping disruption to daytime traffic to a minimum.
"I'd like to thank residents and road users for their continued patience while we complete these final stages. Once finished, the scheme will provide a much more stable embankment, improved drainage and a safer, smoother road for many years to come."
The Yarborough Hill embankment repairs form part of a wider programme of highway improvements taking place across Lincoln this year.
Work is also progressing well on the University Roundabout, Tritton Road and Rope Walk improvement scheme, where new traffic signals, road reconstruction and improved walking and cycling facilities remain on track for completion by the end of September.
Together with the recently completed Bailgate improvements, these projects are helping improve the reliability, resilience and safety of some of Lincoln's busiest routes while reducing the need for more disruptive repairs in future.
