A rising cycling star from Lincolnshire will race through his home county next week after being selected to represent the Great Britain Cycling Team in the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men.
Jacob Bush, 21, from Stamford, will make his Tour of Britain debut when the five-stage race gets underway in Lincoln on Wednesday 2 September.
The young rider will compete alongside some of Britain's best cyclists as the world's leading professional teams and riders descend on Lincolnshire for the opening two stages of this year's race.
Bush has enjoyed a breakthrough season, taking silver at the 2026 national criterium championships and finishing in the top five at the under-23 national road race championships.
He normally rides for the development team of WorldTour outfit Picnic PostNL, but has been selected to represent his country as part of the six-rider Great Britain Cycling Team squad for the Tour of Britain.
And with the first two stages both taking place in his home county, Bush is particularly looking forward to racing in front of family, friends and local cycling fans.
He said:
The first two stages of the race are the most special to me, as both start in my home county of Lincolnshire. Michaelgate has been a big staple of the domestic scene for years now, so I'm really interested to see how it will be raced amongst the professionals. I also think the first part of the second stage will be tricky – you can't underestimate the Wolds.

Bush was encouraged to try a range of sports as a youngster, including alpine skiing, before eventually focusing on road cycling following the pandemic.
He has since progressed rapidly through the sport and is now set to race alongside Commonwealth Games champion Matt Bostock and Olympic medallist Ollie Wood, as well as fellow young riders Ben Wiggins, Elliot Rowe and William Smith.
The Great Britain Cycling Team riders will face some of the world's best professionals during the five-day race, including Tour de France stage winners Olav Kooij and Tim Merlier.
The opening stage on Wednesday 2 September will start and finish in Lincoln, with riders tackling the historic streets of the city, including the famous Michaelgate climb, before the race returns to Lincoln for the finish.
The following day, Thursday 3 September, the peloton will head out from Boston for a long stage across Lincolnshire before finishing at the seaside in Skegness.
The race then heads north, with stages from Hull to Beverley and Helmsley to Leyburn, before the final stage starts and finishes in Earlston in the Scottish Borders.
The Lloyds Tour of Britain Men is one of the biggest free-to-attend sporting events in the UK, giving spectators across Lincolnshire the chance to see some of the world's best cyclists racing on their doorstep.
With Bush competing for Great Britain, this year's race will be an extra-special occasion for the Lincolnshire cycling community as one of the county's own riders takes to the start line.
