Nearly £250,000 is being poured into the area to improve a well-used road and make it less prone to repairs in the future
A major road improvement scheme on Airfield Lane in Snelland is set to get under way this September as part of Lincolnshire County Council's continuing investment into the county’s network of concrete roads.
Location of works
This part of the 13-site Lincolnshire scheme will see the entire length of Airfield Lane resurfaced, replacing worn sections of carriageway and helping to keep the route in good condition for years to come.
Dates and times
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 14th and is expected to continue until Wednesday, September 23rd. All works will be carried out on weekdays only with the working hours being between 7.30am and 5.30pm.
Traffic management
To allow the scheme to be completed safely, a fully signed diversion route will be in place throughout the works. Access for residents and businesses within the work area will be maintained.
The resurfacing programme will involve removing and replacing the top 100mm of the existing carriageway in two layers, providing a stronger and more durable road surface.
Lincolnshire County Council officers will also be working closely with local businesses ahead of the scheme to explain the phased programme of works and help address any access concerns.
Councillor David East, Executive member for Highways and Transport at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "We're investing around £235,000 into Airfield Lane to improve the condition of the road and ensure it continues to serve local residents and businesses well into the future.
"This is a substantial resurfacing scheme which will provide a much-improved driving surface, better skid resistance and a quieter journey for road users.
"We know roadworks can be frustrating, particularly where diversions are needed, but these improvements are important to maintaining the network. I'd like to thank everyone in advance for their patience and understanding while the work is carried out."
