The final phase in a 13-site scheme of specialist roads betterment gets underway in mid-September
A section of Briar Way in Skegness is set for a £104,000 overhaul as part of Lincolnshire County Council's ongoing programme of concrete road improvements.
The project involves replacing the top 100mm of road material in two layers, creating a stronger surface capable of withstanding daily traffic. Around two weeks later, crews will return to saw-cut and seal the joints, an important process that helps protect the carriageway and improve its long-term performance.
Location of works
The work will take place on Briar Way between Sandbeck Avenue and Kennedy Avenue, where the existing carriageway surface will be replaced to help maintain the road and improve conditions for those who use it.
Dates and times
The main resurfacing phase is scheduled for Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th September, with a return visit on Wednesday, 30th September for post-jointing works. All work will be carried out between 7.30am and 5.30pm on weekdays with no weekend working planned.
Traffic management
A signed diversion route will be in place whilst the scheme is underway, directing traffic via Sandbeck Avenue, Richmond Drive and Kennedy Avenue.
Access for residents and businesses will be maintained, although motorists are being advised to allow extra time for journeys while works are happening.
Councillor David East, executive member for highways and transport at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "We're continuing to invest in improving Lincolnshire's concrete roads, and this scheme on Briar Way is another important part of that programme for this year with a return visit by us to the area.
"The work will provide a smoother, quieter road surface with better skid resistance, improving the experience for everyone who uses the route.
"We know roadworks can be inconvenient, but these improvements will help keep the road in good condition for years to come. We'd like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience while the work is carried out."
