New Skills Bootcamps to open doors to new careers and progression for Greater Lincolnshire’s learners.
A new programme of free Skills Bootcamps is now live in Greater Lincolnshire designed to help people gain new qualifications, progress in their careers, switch industries, and support business growth.
Skills Bootcamps are flexible training programmes of at least 60 hours, delivered by specialist providers and funded by the Government in partnership with the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority.
Open to most adults aged over 19 and living in the county, the courses are available online, face-to-face or through blended learning, and specially tailored to meet the skills needs of local employers and key sectors across the region.
They are completely free for learners and cover training across sectors like:
- Agriculture and horticulture
- Construction and engineering
- Digital skills and AI
- Manufacturing
- Health and social care
- Leadership and management
- Business growth, innovation and entrepreneurship
- Transport and logistics
- Food safety and compliance

This year, the programme has introduced 21 new Skills Bootcamps across a range of growing industries, creating even more opportunities for residents to develop in-demand skills while helping employers address workforce challenges.
Skills Bootcamps support people across different stages of their career. And, among the new additions this year, there are courses to kickstart and boost careers like Advanced Welding, Butchery Skills and Species Identification.
The real impact of Skills Bootcamps can be seen through the success of learners who have used the programme to start a new chapter in their careers.
Steven Odling was left facing an uncertain future after being made redundant from his previous role. Looking for a way to retrain and move into a growing industry, he enrolled on a Skills Bootcamp in HGV Driver Training with Branston.
And, after successfully completing the training and gaining the qualifications required by employers, he secured a new role as an HGV driver, enabling him to return to work in a secure role.
Steven said: “It’s made such a difference for me. I’ve gone from the shock and insecurity that comes with redundancy to a safe, steady job, that I’ve always wanted to do.”
His experience shows how Skills Bootcamps work to provide practical, employer-focused training that helps people quickly develop the skills needed to access real job opportunities.

“Adding a further 21 new courses this year reflects the changing needs of our businesses and provides even more variety for learners.
