Two residential roads in Grantham are getting a major resurfacing programme as part of Lincolnshire County Council's ongoing investment in the local highway network.
The £250,000 scheme will see carriageway resurfacing carried out on Park Road and Sandcliffe Road, providing road users with a smoother surface free from defects.
Cllr David East, executive member for highways, said: "This is another fine example of how we are continuing to invest in residential roads across the county, and this latest scheme in Grantham will deliver a noticeable improvement for the people who use these routes every day.
"We appreciate that roadworks can cause some temporary inconvenience, but these improvements will help ensure the roads remain in good condition for years to come.”
Locations of works
The resurfacing programme will take place at:
- Park Road – this will be for the full length of the road.
- Sandcliffe Road – this will be from the junction with Manthorpe Road up to the junction with Eskdale Road.
Dates and times
Park Road
- Starting on Monday 28 September.
- Will consist of three night shifts.
- Working hours will be from 7pm to 6am.
Sandcliffe Road
- Starting on Thursday 1 October.
- Will consist of eight night-shifts.
- Working hours will be from 8pm to 6am with no works to happen on Saturday or Sunday nights.
NOTE: All works are subject to suitable weather conditions.
Traffic management
Road closures will be required during the works, with local diversion routes signed and in place for motorists. As part of the Park Road scheme, a road closure will also be required at the northern end of Castlegate to help with the delivery of critical machines and materials to the site.
Access arrangements
Resident access will be maintained throughout the programme, although some delays may be encountered while works are taking place.
Traffic management staff will be on site to assist residents and advise motorists when required.
Local businesses have been informed about the works, and access arrangements have been agreed in advance.
Cllr East added: "Our traffic management teams will be available throughout the scheme to help facilitate access where needed and minimise disruption as much as possible.
"We will complete the programme as quickly as possible and I’d very much like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their continued cooperation while these improvements are delivered."
