A big wedge of cash will improve 42 carriageways across Lincolnshire
Lincolnshire County Council is investing £8 million in a major programme of road resurfacing and reconstruction works across the county that will make a load of roads better to use.
The scheme will run between October this year and next March and includes 42 schemes which form part of the council's ongoing work to improve the condition of Lincolnshire's road network.
The works will see existing road surfaces removed and replaced with new materials designed to strengthen the carriageway and provide a smoother, longer-lasting top layer for better safety and performance.
Cllr David East, executive member for highways, said: "This is another significant investment in Lincolnshire's roads and demonstrates our commitment to maintaining and improving the highway network for residents, businesses and visitors.
"These schemes will deliver real improvements right across the county, helping to create safer, smoother journeys and reducing the need for more extensive repairs in the future.
"We know how important reliable roads are to local communities and this programme will help keep people moving across Lincolnshire."
Andy Creasey, county programme manager for Highways, said: "Our resurfacing and reconstruction programmes are focused on improving the condition of roads that are important to local communities.
"By carrying out these works now, we're extending the life of the highway and improving the overall quality of the network for everyone who uses it.
"We'll continue to keep residents informed as individual schemes approach."
Residents and motorists will receive further information before works begin in their area. Advance warning signs will also be installed ahead of each scheme to provide details of the works and any traffic management arrangements.
