Improvement works on the A1031 in North Cotes are being extended to tackle additional sections of failing carriageway, helping make the most of the investment already being made in the route.
The additional works will repair drought-damaged sections of the A1031, covering more than a kilometre of carriageway between Fleetway and Duckthorpe Lane.
As a result, the overall improvement programme is now expected to be completed in mid-October, with the following traffic management in place:
- A 24/7 road closure on the A1031 between B1200 and Fleetway until 6pm on Friday 25 September.
- Daytime road closures on the A1031 between Fleetway and Duckthorpe Lane, from 7am to 6.30pm on weekdays, starting Monday 28 September for up to two weeks.
The diversion route for both closures is via the A16 / B1200 / A1031, and vice versa.
Please note that the junction of Fleetway will also be completely closed for one day to allow for surfacing, currently scheduled for Thursday 8th October.
Cllr Bayleigh Robinson, executive support councillor for highways and county councillor for Saltfleet and the Cotes, said: “We’ve already made great progress improving the A1031, but where there are additional sections of road that need attention, it makes sense to tackle them now rather than leave them and have to come back later.
“We’re investing in more than a kilometre of additional repairs to make this route safer and more reliable, while also making the most of the investment and traffic management already in place. It means the works will take a little longer, but we believe that’s the right thing to do for local residents and taxpayers.
“We’ll keep disruption to a minimum wherever we can, including keeping the road open overnight and maintaining daytime access through the site for buses, school transport and residents.
“Thank you to everyone for your patience while we crack on with these essential improvements. Once complete, the A1031 will provide a safer, smoother and more reliable route for residents, businesses, commuters and visitors for many years to come.”
