Calling all witches and wizards, ghosts and ghoulies! A host of fiendishly fun activities are taking place at Lincoln’s heritage attractions this month. So grab your costumes and get involved.
Outdoor cinema at Lincoln Castle
The festivities begin with a series of spooktacular outdoor cinema shows to get you in the mood!
- 16 October: The Lost Boys
- 17 October: Hocus Pocus Spooktacular
- 18 October: The Nightmare Before Christmas
Gates open from 6pm for all performances, and at 7.30pm it’s showtime!

Spooky stories at Lincoln Castle
Join our storyteller for chilling tales during the half term holiday.
Listen to eerie stories, explore the castle grounds and discover the mysteries hidden within its ancient walls. Don't forget to collect your Spooky Castle activity sheet and see if you can uncover some gruesome finds along the way.
Storytelling takes place daily from 24 October to 1 November, 10am to 4pm. It is included as part of the Castle Day ticket and free for annual pass holders to enjoy.

Spooktacular Fun Day at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life
27 October, from 10am to 4pm (last admission 3.45pm)
Something spooky is brewing at the museum! Step into a world of Halloween magic this half term and join us for a spooktacular day packed with creepy crafts, wicked games, fun activities and a frightfully fun Halloween trail to explore around the museum.
Come dressed to impress… we’d love to see your most creative costumes – but nothing too scary please.
Entry costs £4 per child and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring the whole family along for a day of Halloween fun, spooky surprises and plenty to discover.
Trick or Treat at the Usher Gallery
Visit the historic Usher Gallery for free crafting activities, facepainting and trick or treating on Halloween – Saturday 31 October.
- 4.30-6pm: Arrive in your costume and finish your look with facepainting by the gallery team
- 4.30-5:45pm: Halloween crafts
- 4.30-6pm: Trick or Treat in the Gallery! Each room in the gallery will have a different decorated themed door. Knock to get a trick or treat.
Costumes strongly encouraged, but nothing too scary please.

Ink Blot Monsters workshop at the Usher Gallery
Watch your children invent their very own monster creations in this free, family-friendly art class, taking place on Monday 26 October. Drop in between 1pm and 3.30pm

Needle felt Halloween decorations at the Usher Gallery
Join the team to create your own needle felted Halloween decoration. All materials are provided and there will be support from staff to learn the process of needle felting and guidance on creating your design.
The session takes place on Thursday 29 October, from 1pm to 3.30pm. It is suitable for ages 8 and over due to the use of sharp tools and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
