Lincoln Castle Illuminated returns from 20 November to 23 December 2026, bringing spectacular new light installations, the arrival of Father Christmas and a host of festive favourites.
As darkness falls, Lincoln Castle will once again be transformed into a magical Christmas wonderland, with thousands of twinkling lights, dazzling displays and enchanting installations bringing this extraordinary historic setting to life.
Tickets go on sale at 6pm Friday 16 October via lincolncastle.com.
This year, visitors can look forward to exciting new lighting experiences created especially for Lincoln Castle, adding a fresh sense of wonder to one of the city's best-loved festive events.
And for the first time, Father Christmas will be joining the celebrations, making appearances throughout the event and bringing an extra touch of magic for younger visitors.
Festive favourites will also return, including the Christmas Express, fairground rides, seasonal food and drink, and plenty of opportunities to capture those special Christmas memories.
Selected evenings will also be dog friendly, so four-legged family members can join in the festivities.
Cllr Natalie Oliver, executive councillor for culture, said: "Lincoln Castle is a must-visit destination for families all year round, but as the nights draw in, the monument takes on an extra sprinkling of magic.
“A night making memories among the castle’s twinkling lights has become a festive tradition for so many families, and each year we find new ways to add to the sparkle. This year is no exception, and we’re delighted to be welcoming Father Christmas for the first time.
“Last year a record number of visitors joined us for Lincoln Castle Illuminated, with some nights selling out, so I’d encourage visitors to book their places early to avoid disappointment."
Visitors can also choose to upgrade their ticket to include access to a section of the Medieval Wall Walk.
While the full Wall Walk circuit will not be available this year due to ongoing essential conservation works, visitors can still enjoy spectacular views of Lincoln Cathedral and the lights below by upgrading their ticket.
The upgrade provides access to the North Curtain Wall and a section of the East Curtain Wall only, with visitors entering and exiting via Cobb Hall and returning along the same route.
The Wall Walk upgrade is accessed by steps only and is not suitable for wheelchair users or visitors unable to manage stairs.

Lincoln Castle Illuminated runs from Friday 20 November to Wednesday 23 December 2026, opening Wednesday to Sunday, with additional dates on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 December.
Opening times:
- Wednesday to Friday: 5.30pm to 9pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 4pm to 9pm
- Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 December: 5.30pm to 9pm
Grounds admission is £4 per person, and children under five enter for free. Visitors can add their Wall Walk upgrade for an additional charge when buying tickets online or on the night, subject to availability.
