Council grant funds year-round community events in Lincoln

Lincolnshire County Council has awarded £5,000 to charity CVS to support family activities at the Moorland centre in Lincoln – the latest successful award from the Strategic Grant Fund.

Put forward by Cllr Stuart Grantham, the money will be used straight away with the first event being a Halloween arts, crafts and family movie event.

Cllr Stuart Grantham, county councillor for Hartsholme division, said: “This funding will help bring people together, reduce isolation, support family wellbeing and give children opportunities to learn, play and make happy memories close to home.

“In addition to this I’ve also been delighted to allocate £2000 from the councillor divisional grant scheme to support the home education group that runs from the Moorland Centre too.”

The strategic grant funding will go towards a year of family events at the community centre, including Christmas activities with a visit from Santa, February half-term nature activities, Easter theatre and games sessions, May half-term street theatre around the Moorland ward and a  summer celebration for the whole community.

Vicki Connolly from CVS, said: “We are very pleased to be able to offer a much extended variety of inclusive events as a direct result of the additional funding.

“We have been able to book events and activities, throughout the next 12 months, during school holidays, to offer a difference experience for families.”

See the Moorland Community Centre facebook page for details of the events they are holding.
