Legendary musician Robert Plant is heading to Lincoln next summer with roots-folk band Saving Grace and Suzi Dian.

Following the release of the acclaimed Saving Grace: All That Glitters… EP last month and fresh back from a run of US dates, they will bring the Roots & Branch tour to Live at Lincoln Castle on Thursday 24 June. They will be joined by special guests award-winning folk stars Kate Rusby and Seth Lakeman.

Tickets go on sale at 10am Friday via lincolncastle.com and ticketmaster.co.uk.

Robert Plant’s critically-acclaimed Saving Grace: All That Glitters... is out now digitally on Nonesuch Records. The EP, previously released on vinyl for Record Store Day, follows Plant’s 2025 critically acclaimed album, Saving Grace; both feature singer Suzi Dian and a band of musicians from the English countryside that Plant calls home.  The EP’s four tracks further explore the folk and Americana songs that Plant and the band love: the traditional tunes The Blackest Crow and Two Coats, Gillian Welch’s Orphan Girl, and Bert Jansch’s Poison.

This group of distinguished musicians – vocalist Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo and string player Matt Worley, and cellist Barney Morse-Brown – explore the evolution of roots music both vintage and modern.  The band members were drawn together by a shared love of roots music – blues, folk, gospel, country, and the sounds that lay in between.

Saving Grace began at Plant’s home on the Welsh borders in 2019; this new collective of like-minded collaborators had been experimenting for barely a year, even serving as an unheralded opening act on a handful of dates for Fairport Convention, when the pandemic intervened and any formal plans were temporarily shelved. Once protocols permitted, Plant and Saving Grace began to record informally in a barn setup or outdoors, then booked themselves in small venues without fanfare.

Earlier this year Robert Plant was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Americana Music Association Awards.

Kicking off at the prestigious Hampton Court Palace Festival, the Root & Branch tour will also see the band play Halifax, Scarborough and Dublin.

Special guests at the show will be Kate Rusby and Seth Lakeman.

Kate Rusby is widely regarded as one of England’s finest folk singers, renowned for her crystal-clear voice and beautifully crafted interpretations of traditional songs alongside her own acclaimed compositions.

She has captivated audiences around the world with her warmth, humour and unmistakable voice, with her albums winning a string of BBC Radio 2 awards and her music featuring in numerous TV programmes and films.

Seth Lakeman was catapulted into the music mainstream when he was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2005 for his album Kitty Jay. His follow up was the gold-selling Freedom Fields – which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.

Multiple albums, tours and high-profile collaborations later, the acclaimed folk artist released his latest studio album The Granite Way in 2025 recorded alongside a group of longtime collaborators and referring to ancient stories that inspired his early West Country storytelling.

The headline concerts are presented as part of an ongoing partnership with Lincolnshire County Council and Live Nation promoters Cuffe and Taylor to bring world-class artists to perform in this outstanding historic location.

Cuffe and Taylor promoter Mark Harrison said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be welcoming Robert Plant to Lincoln next summer. Robert is one of the most influential and distinctive voices in British music, and this is a really special opportunity to see him performing with Saving Grace and Suzi Dian.

“Their Root & Branch tour promises a wonderful celebration of roots, folk and blues, and we’re thrilled to be bringing such an iconic artist to the Castle. With Kate Rusby and Seth Lakeman also joining the bill, it’s going to be a very special night.”

Cllr Natalie Oliver, executive councillor for culture at Lincolnshire County Council, added: “Wow! The incredible acts just keep coming. Days after announcing one icon in Paul Heaton comes another music legend in Robert Plant.

“It's incredibly exciting to think that this could be Robert's first ever performance in Lincoln in a career spanning six decades, and what better place to play his first show here than at our spectacular 1,000-year-old Castle? I hope music fans will be inspired to follow in his footsteps, discover our historic city for themselves and fall in love with everything that makes Lincoln such a special place.”

Robert Plant with Saving Grace and Suzi Dian is the latest artist announced for Live at Lincoln Castle 2027 which will also see headline shows from Paul Heaton, Bananarama, Holly Johnson, Kaiser Chiefs, Alfie Boe, Ronan Keating, and Jack Savoretti and James Morrison.
