Poppy displays return to Lincolnshire roundabouts for Remembrance

Eleven giant poppy displays are returning to Lincolnshire's roadsides as communities across the county prepare to mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day

The large-scale artwork has been painted onto 11 roundabouts, reflecting the significance of November 11, and creating a visible tribute to the servicemen and women who have served, and continue to serve, in the Armed Forces.

Once again, the installations have been made possible thanks to volunteers who have donated their time, skills and materials to ensure the displays are in place ahead of the county's remembrance commemorations.

Cllr Sean Matthews, Leader of Lincolnshire County Council, said: "The poppy is a powerful symbol of remembrance, and these displays are a very visible way for us to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

"Having 11 roundabouts carrying the artwork this year is a meaningful link to Armistice Day on November 11. It provides a visible reminder for people across Lincolnshire to take a moment to reflect on the courage, commitment and sacrifice of generations of servicemen and women.

"A good thing about the scheme is that our contractor Balfour Beatty gives the time for free and CF Construction supplies the paint as well.

"I'm grateful to everyone who has helped make the displays possible during the national time for us all to remember those who fell, and those who continue to serve, our country."
