Improvements to A151 Spalding Road in Bourne this August

Diversion Route - A151 Bourne

The works will replace the worn out carriageway on the A151 Spalding Road, between the solar panel farm and Station Road in Twenty.

Works are now expected to take two weeks instead of four 23/07/2020

Please note that these works are now expected to take two weeks instead of four, subject to suitable weather. The start date remains Monday 3 August.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "Over the past few weeks, we've worked closely with the scheme's contractor, Tarmac, to identify a more shorter, more efficient programme.

"As a result, we now expect this project to be complete in two weeks instead of four.

"This will hopefully come as good news to those that use the A151 Spalding Road since it means the 24/7 road closure will be in place for half the time we originally anticipated."

The total programme of works will start on Monday 3 August and is expected to last for four weeks, subject to suitable weather.

As part of the works, a full 24/7 road closure will be in place throughout the duration of the project.

The diversion route for the closure will be via A151 / A15 / A1175 / A16, and vice versa.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "As part of these works, we'll be resurfacing a section of the A151 Spalding Road near Bourne that is nearing the end of its serviceable life.

"We'll be doing everything we can to minimise disruption throughout the four-week project, including keeping in regular contact with residents, businesses and emergency services and maintaining access for them while the road is closed.

"I know these works will cause some inconvenience, but the long-term benefits – like safer and smoother journeys – will be well worth it in the end."
