Sleaford Rugby Club Junction update – Junction improvements well underway

Building upon the work's carried out in June will be the main focus this month.

What we achieved in June

  • Started construction of culvert and headwall to the A17 slip road drainage ditch
  • Excavated the ground in preparation for new kerb installation on A17 slip road
  • Installed kerb and drainage, carried out footway works and positioned streetlight ducting and chambers on the A153, north of the junction
  • Removed existing traffic islands, excavated the area and laid foundation for new traffic islands
  • Completed manholes /gullies and laid traffic signal and streetlight chambers and ducting on the northern island
  • Installed WPD ducting for cabling that will connect to the new traffic signals
  • Excavated for new kerbs on the A153 south of the junction

What's happening in July

  • Complete construction of culvert and headwalls for the A17 slip road
  • Continue construction of embankment, kerbs and drainage to the A17 slip road
  • Complete footway on the A153, north of the junction
  • Install traffic signal column sockets and complete ducting works on the northern traffic island
  • Commence kerbing, drainage and installing traffic signal equipment on the southern island
  • Complete kerbing and drainage on the A153 south of the junction
  • Commence excavation, kerbing and drainage on the A153 south of the overbridge

  • Full 24/7 closure of eastbound A17 exit slip road
  • Right-turn ban off of the A153 onto the A17
  • Temporary 30mph speed restriction and narrowed lane on A153 East Road
  • Temporary 400m path diversion onto the east side footway
