A46 Riseholme update – Northwest and southeast corners nearing completion

With the main work on the northwest and southeast corners nearing completion, improvements to the roundabout's southwest and northeast corners are the primary focus for the coming period.

What we achieved in June:

  • Excavated to allow lower layers of new road surface to be constructed at the northwest and southeast corners
  • Began laying asphalt in northwest corner road widening
  • Carried out embankment works on northeast corner, including installation of 100m of new filter drain
  • Completed  kerbing and drainage installation in the southeast and northwest corners
  • Started construction of new footway on southeast corner
  • Laid duct crossing and dug trench in  the northwest corner to allow for upcoming Anglian water main diversions

What's happening in July:

  • Finish laying asphalt on the northwest and southeast corners of the roundabout
  • Begin excavating the southwest and northeast corners for widening
  • Complete kerbing and drainage work on southwest and northeast corners
  • Begin kerbing to increase the roundabout's central island radius and install associated drainage
  • Carry out earthworks to the embankments and top-soiling of verges

 Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures:

  • Night-time road closure on A15 arm of the roundabout, from 7pm to 5:30am, for two evenings starting on Monday 13 July
  • Night-time road closure on eastern arm of the roundabout, from 7pm to 5:30am, for three evenings starting on Wednesday 15 July
  • Night-time road closure of the eastern arm of the A46 Riseholme roundabout, between 7pm and 6am, starting on Monday 27 July for one week

 

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Temporary 30mph speed limit
  • Lane narrowing on the roundabout's approach lanes
