Work starts at South Holland District Council's offices in the town so the building can house the registration service.

Following a successful planning application, the service will be moved from its current location on Bath Road as the lease comes to an end.

It's hoped that people will be able to use the new office from December, however customers will be advised on which venue to use when they book appointments in the coming months.

Cllr Nick Worth, executive councillor for registration services at Lincolnshire County Council, and deputy leader of South Holland District Council, said:

"I'm delighted that we will be able to offer a more accessible experience for people registering births, deaths, marriages and partnerships in Spalding. It's important that we continue to offer a personal and professional service during these key life events.

"By working together, there will be benefits to both councils in making the best use of buildings and resources, whilst listening to customer feedback to vastly improve the facilities on offer."
