This week is Love Culture Week and museums, galleries, and cultural attractions in Lincolnshire are celebrating with special events.
The Collection Museum's 'Spotlight Display' is a rare opportunity to see an early example of a Steiff Bear dating back to 1907. This is only on display until the end of August, when a new spotlight object will be announced for display in September.
Every visitor to the museum during August also gets the chance to win their very own Steiff Bear by giving our old bear a name. The competition is free and open to everyone.
All week, younger visitors can pick up fun summer activity packs for £3 that include a 'Percy Plesiosaur Goes to the seaside' museum trail, activity books, souvenirs, a Dinosaur lollypop and a postcard.
At the weekend (22 and 23 August) the museum is holding 'Crafts in the Courtyard' where visitors can bring a blanket and take part in free craft activities from 10am - 3pm. You can pick up a picnic from the café or take advantage of the popular coffee and cake deal.
You can join in online with The Collection Museum for #ThrowbackThursday and share your pictures of holidays and day trips to cultural attractions.
In the current circumstances, to visit the museum visitors need to pre-book a ticket.
Please be assured that:
- the museum has the VisitEngland 'We're Good to Go' COVID 19 industry standard consumer mark to provide reassurance that clear processes are in place to keep everyone safe
- The Collection café is participating in the Government's 'Eat Out to Help' out scheme on Monday and Wednesday (as we are closed Tuesdays)
- shielding entry is still taking place every Thursday at 10am to ensure more vulnerable visitors can benefit from a lower visitor capacity and a quieter hour-long session
The Collection Museum is open every day 10am to 4pm (except Tuesday) and entry is free. The museum is also open over August Bank Holiday weekend.
Love Culture week is an initiative by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS).
