The A46 near Dunholme and Welton will re-open during the day, with night-time road closures remaining in place.
The night-time closure will be in place, between Lincoln Road (to Welton) up to the Scothern Lane crossroads. The road will be closed from 7pm to 6am, Monday to Friday, for four weeks starting on Thursday 3 September (subject to suitable weather).
The diversion route during the closure will be via A631 to A15 to A46 Riseholme, and vice versa.
Karen Cassar, Assistant Director - Highways, said: "Our works to improve the A46 near Dunholme and Welton are continuing to progress well and the 24/7 closure of the A46 here is still set to end on Wednesday 2 September.
"However, there's still a lot of work to do as part of our plans for making this important stretch of road safer for everyone that uses it.
"In addition to continuing to construct the new roundabout, the next phase of work will include improving the quality of the eastern section of A46 near Dunholme and Welton by completely reconstructing.
"These works will inevitably cause some further disruption, but we'll be doing our absolute best to keep traffic moving.
"Over the coming months, we will also be focusing on removing and re-aligning the whole of Lincoln Road later this year, as well as reconstructing the western section of the A46 near Dunholme and Welton early next year.
"More details about both of these sets of works, including dates and traffic management, are still being finalised so we will be sharing all of this closer to each set of works."
Access for residents that live off Lincoln Road (to Dunholme) will be maintained via the Scothern crossroads and Lincoln Road (to Welton).
In addition to the night-time closures, temporary daytime traffic signals will be in use on the A46 near Welton/Dunholme, from 9:30am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, starting on Thursday 3 September until early December.
The temporary 30mph speed limit currently in place will also remain for the rest of the scheme.
The project is expected to be complete next spring.
The A46 Dunholme / Welton Roundabout project is being part-funded using the £2m allocated to the authority by the Department of Transport (DfT) from tranche 2 of its National Productivity Investment Fund. The remaining funding for the construction of the scheme will come from a combination of third party contributions and the county council.
