Karen Cassar, Assistant Director - Highways, said: "Similar to last month, we will be closing parts of Riseholme Roundabout so the contractor can safely carry out road reconstruction and surfacing works where we've added new lanes.

"I want to reassure everyone affected that we'll be doing our absolute best to keep disruption to a minimum, which is why we've decided to close the roundabout overnight instead of during the day, when there are thousands more vehicles using the A46.

"Once complete, people should start to notice fewer queues and quicker journey times when using the A46 around Lincoln thanks new exit and approach lanes and more space on the roundabout itself."

The £4.2m improvement project is being funded via £2.4m from the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership and £1.8m from an Integrated Transport Grant.
