The remaining two weekends of closures on Lincoln Road in Branston will no longer be needed.

The weekend closures that will no longer be going ahead were scheduled for 3-5 October and 10-12 October.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said:

"I'm happy to announce that we were able to complete our works near the new Lincoln Road roundabout this past weekend.

"As a result, we won't need to close the road this weekend or the weekend after, like we originally planned.

"This means we can avoid the disruption these closures would have caused, news that I'm sure will be welcomed by those living and travelling in and around Branston."

"In the meantime, we're continuing ahead with our works near Greetwell Road roundabout.

"Similar to Lincoln Road, we hope to also complete these works ahead of programme without having to use all of the scheduled weekend road closures – but a large part of that will be down to good weather."

Dates for the upcoming Greetwell Road weekend closures are as follows:

  • Saturday 3 October to Monday 5 October
  • Saturday 10 October to Monday 12 October
  • Saturday 17 October to Monday 19 October
  • Saturday 24 October to Monday 26 October

The diversion route for the Greetwell Road closures will be via Outer Circle Road / Bunkers Hill / A158 Wragby Road / Kennel Lane / Hawthorn Road / Croft Lane / Church Lane / Fiskerton Road, and vice versa.

All works are scheduled to begin at 6am on Saturday morning and will end at 6am Monday morning. However, the road may be re-opened before 6am on Monday morning, dependant on how the works progress.

Temporary traffic signals will also be in place on Greetwell Road from 9:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, starting on Monday 14 September for six weeks.
