A total of eleven evenings of night-time road closures at the A46 Riseholme Roundabout are planned for October, ahead of ongoing major improvement works coming to an end.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "Our works at Riseholme Roundabout are continuing forward at a strong and steady pace, and we're now less than a month away from completing this very important improvement scheme.

"Not only has Anglian Water completed their mains diversion, but all other utility works are now finished, too.

"However, before we re-open the roundabout fully, we have several other jobs to finish off. In addition to painting new white lines and installing signage, we need to carry out a final set of surfacing works that require the road to be closed for several hours at a time. This is to allow each new layer of road material to settle before people drive on it.

"To minimise disruption and keep people traveling in and around Lincoln moving, we'll laying the new road surface and painting the new lines overnight and only closing up to two individual arms of the roundabout at any given time.

"The good news is that the newly-improved roundabout will be fully up-and-running by the end of October, so long as the weather stays in our favour."

The dates and locations of these night-time closures, which will be in place from 7pm to 6am, are as follows (subject to suitable weather):

  • 5 October – western arm (between Riseholme and Carholme Roundabouts)
  • 6 October – northern arm (towards/leaving the A15)
  • 7 October – western arm
  • 8 October – western arm
  • 9 October – western arm
  • 12 October – western and eastern arms (between Carholme and Nettleham Roundabouts)
  • 13 October – eastern arm (between Riseholme and Nettleham Roundabouts)

  • 15 October – southern arm (towards/leaving Riseholme Road)
  • 16 October – western and eastern arms
  • 19 October – northern and southern arms (towards/leaving the A15 and Riseholme Road)

Please note that temporary traffic signals will be in place on the roundabout during some of the night-time closures to ensure the safety of the workforce.
