Lincoln Eastern Bypass update – Work throughout the entire bypass site continuing forward

Works across the entire Lincoln Eastern Bypass site continues, ahead of the new road opening later this year.

What we achieved in September

  • Continued drainage, street lighting, kerbing, fence installation and road surfacing between Wragby Road to Greetwell Road
  • Started weekend road closures at Greetwell Road for final roundabout works, including road markings, signage and street-lining.
  • Continue drainage works / begin street-lighting and kerbing works between Greetwell Road to Washingborough Road
  • Completed retention pond near new Washingborough Road roundabout
  • Began footway edging and surfacing between Washingborough and Lincoln Road (Branston)
  • Completed road markings, street-lining, kerbing and surfacing at Lincoln Road roundabout
  • Started final road surfacing between Lincoln Road (Branston) and Sleaford Road
  • Installed permanent parapets at Hawthorn Road footbridge
  • Completed concrete works for Greetwell footbridge
  • Completed wing wall stringcourses and deck waterproofing / installed verge ducts, deck kerb and drainage units for River Witham Viaduct
  • Completed finishing works / progresses approach paths for South Delph footbridge
  • Completed Hawthorn retaining wall
  • Installed kerbs, deck/drain units and carried out verge concrete works and deck water-proofing at Market Rasen Line rail bridge deck
  • Completed concrete finishing works at Bloxholm Lane footbridge

What's happening in October

  • Complete sign installation and street lighting change at Wragby Road
  • Complete drainage, street lighting and kerbing / continue fence installation and road surfacing between Wragby Road to Greetwell Road
  • Complete road markings, signage and street-lining on Greetwell Road roundabout
  • Continue drainage works, surfacing and kerbing works between Greetwell Road to Washingborough Road
  • Continue footway edging and surfacing /begin road surfacing, road markings and signage between Washingborough and Lincoln Road (Branston)
  • Complete final road surfacing, road markings and signage between Lincoln Road (Branston) and Sleaford Road
  • Continue final parapet works at Hawthorn Road footbridge
  • Install parapets and construct approach paths for Greetwell footbridge
  • Complete parapets, deck joints, concrete works and wing wall stringcourses for River Witham Viaduct
  • Complete approach paths for South Delph footbridge
  • Fit metal railings for Lincoln Road Underpass
  • Carry out works to north wing wall stringcourses / progress parapets for Market Rasen Line rail bridge deck
  • Install metal parapets and construct approach paths for Bloxholm Lane footbridge

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

  • Weekend road closures at Lincoln Road (Branston) from 6am Saturday morning until 6am Monday morning (road may be re-opened before 6am on Monday morning, dependant on how the works progress)
    • 3-5 October / 10-12 October
  • Weekend road closures at Greetwell Road from 6am Saturday morning until 6am Monday morning (road may be re-opened before 6am on Monday morning, dependant on how the works progress)
    • 3-5 October / 10-12 October / 17-19 October / 24-26 October

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Full 24/7 closure of Washingborough Road and Hawthorn Road
  • Full 24/7 closure of Bloxholm Lane and Greetwell Fields Lane (new Bloxholm link off of Sleaford Road open)
  • Temporary speed restrictions on Heighington Road, Greetwell Road, Lincoln Road and Sleaford Road
  • Temporary 200m path diversion on the Sustrans route along the River Witham
