New classrooms and facilities for Bourne Elsea Park Academy

Two children sat at a deck in their new classroom.

Work to expand the school for space and facilities for 60 extra pupils is complete.

The new block contains two classrooms, additional toilets and hallway space ready for the start of the autumn term.

The £1.1m project, which was funded and delivered by the council, also involved outdoor improvements, including an extension to the playground and new parking spaces.

Cllr Patricia Bradwell, executive member for children's services, said: "The new extension will create extra space at the school, helping to meet the growing demand for school places in the Bourne area. These improvements will be of great benefit to both current pupils and those of the future, ensuring local children continue to receive a high-quality education for years to come."

Mrs Sarah Moore, Executive Headteacher of Abbey Academies Trust said: “We are absolutely thrilled with our stunning new learning environment and it was a delight to welcome the children into their two new classrooms in September. We have also had our fantastic local artist Christopher Green showing off our school’s love of reading with yet another stunning mural – this time celebrating Roald Dahl."

Mr Duncan Pickering, Co-Chair of Trustees added: “The children are all really settled and happy in their new rooms and enjoying a wonderful start to the Autumn term. Our school definitely has the Bourne Elsea Park ‘Wow Factor’ and we would like to thank everyone involved for making the project such a huge success.’”

Work on the new extension, which was designed by Kier and constructed by Lindum, began in September 2019 and finished in August 2020.
