Dunholme/Welton contractor turns old pallets into a home

Eurovia, the contractor building the new A46 Dunholme/Welton roundabout, recently donated a mini-beast mansion to Heath Farm Day Nursery

Eurovia stacked a number of recycled wood pallets from the construction site to build the mini-mansion for local wildlife.

Leftover drainage pipes were also used to provide a place for the creatures to live.

Once delivered to the nursery, the children got involved by adding in sticks and straw to keep the little animals warm and pinecones for them to eat.

Bulbs and seeds were also left for the children to plant on top and watch grow.

Rachel Galley, Eurovia Public Liaison Officer, said:

"Giving something back to the local community and leaving a lasting legacy that goes beyond the life of the construction project is really important to our local team.

"Donating materials and building the mini-beast mansion for a neighbouring nursery school seemed like an ideal community engagement project for our staff to be involved in.

"An environmentally friendly project that could be used as an educational tool long after completion of the construction project.

"It’s been fantastic to see the children enjoying the mansion, from their nature walks to find materials to watching the range of bugs move in and settle into their new home for the winter."
