A look at what was achieved during January, and upcoming works and traffic restrictions for February

What we achieved in January

Phase 3 – from 161 Roman Bank to the Co-op access

  • Rebuilt and opened 220m of footpath
  • Installed 16 new bollards to safeguard pedestrian walkways

Phase 4 – from the Co-op access to 182 Roman Bank

  • Removed 950-tonnes of old carriageway and 400m of old kerbing
  • Installed 120m of new mainline drainage
  • Installed six new gullies and five new drainage catch-pits

What's happening in February

Phase 3 – from 161 Roman Bank to the Co-op access

  • Complete and open an additional 140m of footpath
  • Complete and open the new Seaview Road pedestrian crossing

Phase 4 – from the Co-op access to 182 Roman Bank

  • Continue drainage works, including installing new catch-pits, gullies and additional pipes
  • Begin rebuilding the carriageway using nearly 2,000 tonnes of asphalt
  • Begin installation of new kerbs

Phase 5 – 182 Roman Bank to 200 Roman Bank

  • Begin excavating old sections of road

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Temporary traffic signals between 161 Roman Bank to the Co-op access (as required)
  • Full road closure between the Co-op access to 182 Roman Bank

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

  • Full road closure between 182 Roman Bank to 200 Roman Bank

Please note that pedestrian access will be maintained for residents and businesses, except when works are being carried directly outside a property (exact location will change as the scheme progresses).

Those affected will be notified in advance and are encouraged to speak to the site team to discuss any accommodations that can be made.

Private and on-street parking within the immediate area of works will also be restricted. However, restrictions on two 'limited-time' parking zones on Sea View Road, between the junction with Hoylake

Drive and the junction with Roman Bank, will be suspended during the project to provide alternative parking.
