Access will be maintained for residents, businesses and emergency services as far as reasonably practicable throughout the works.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said:

"As many will have noticed, sections of the A1133 and A156 are wearing down, including the junction with the A57. As a result, we'll be rebuilding the worst areas of these important roads starting in early March.

"Not only will we be using over 10,000 tonnes of tarmac to rebuild these worn out sections of road, but we'll also be taking the opportunity to repair some the kerbs and drainage at the A57/A1133 junction near Newton-on-Trent.

"These works will inevitably cause some disruption, but we'll be doing everything we can to keep this to a minimum including carrying a large majority of the works out in the day so there isn't any noise overnight.

"We'll also be maintaining access for residents, businesses and emergency services throughout the works when and where we can do so safely.

"I want to thank everyone in advance for bearing with us while we carry out these essential repairs to two of the county's most-used A-roads."
