Over 1,000 tonnes of the old road has been removed, over 1,000 tonnes of new material has been excavated and over 1,000 tonnes of new stone laid.
What we achieved in February
- Removed over 1,000 tonnes of old road
- Continued Anglian Water works, including commissioning the new mains and building chambers for hydrants and valves
- Installed final 80m of kerbing and positioned all gullies for the new Lincoln Road
- Excavated over 1,000 tonnes of material for the new roundabout and its approaches/exits
- Laid over 1,000 tonnes of new stone for the road foundation
- Continued building the shared cycleway/footway up the new Lincoln Road
What's happening in March
- Lay remaining kerbs on the roundabout approach from Lincoln
- Lay new layers of tarmac on the approaches/exits from the north-side of the new roundabout
- Complete kerbing works for the roundabout
- Open north-side of new roundabout under temporary signals while south-side works are carried out
- Re-cut and shape southern ditch
- Remove over 400m of old road and replace with new foundation and tarmac
- Continue building the shared cycleway/footway up the new Lincoln Road
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- Temporary 30mph speed limit on the A46
- Right-turn ban from A15 onto Heath Lane into Welton and from Heath Lane onto the A15
- Full closure of Horncastle Lane, at its junction with the A46
- Diversion via the A46 to Nettleham Roundabout then to the A46/A15 Riseholme Roundabout; then the A15 to the A15-A1500 Roundabout (which joins with the other end of Horncastle Lane), and vice versa
- Temporary 24/7 traffic signals on the A46 until the end of the works
