New sculptures for The Collection Museum

Three bronze heads created by London-based contemporary sculptor, Thomas J Price, have been acquired by The Collection Museum in Lincoln.

With generous support from Art Fund, the Contemporary Art Society and the Heslam Trust, Price's work, which explores the idea of representation, identity and inclusion, will go on display at the museum in September.

The bronze heads depict three Black men cast in bronze on colourful automotive spray painted Perspex bases. Each character has been based on people's behaviour, 'types' represented in the media, and ancient, classical and neoclassical sculptures.

Eleanor Baumber from Lincolnshire County Council's Collection Museum, explains: "Price's work is so impressive. His sculptures not only invite you to reflect on their material quality but also make you think about life right now.

Price's career is going from strength to strength, having just been commissioned for the Hackney Windrush Commission in 2021, so it’s a real coup for us to have these works in Lincoln."
