Six weeks of work will begin week commencing Monday 13 September to improve the drainage system along the A52 Wainfleet Road around the junction with Wythes Lane.
The road here is prone to surface water flooding during periods of heavy rain, and in the past it has affected nearby properties.
To improve the drainage, we will be installing a new underground pipe along the road, to discharge water into an existing drainage ditch.
We will also be increasing the amount of gullies under the road here from 12 to 26, to increase capacity.
As much of this work will take place under the footway, we will also be reinstating the path along this section.
The road will remain open whilst work takes place, with a temporary speed limit of 30mph and temporary traffic lights. There will also be a temporary footpath for pedestrians whilst the footway is closed.
Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said:
"In recent years, we've seen more and more how heavy and prolonged periods of rain can cause flooding on roads across the county. And in this particular area, we've even seen surface water flooding affecting nearby homes.
"So this is one of the areas where we're improving the highway drainage, to reduce the risk of this happening.
"This is a busy route in and out of Boston, so to keep the disruption to a minimum whilst we do the work, we're keeping the road open and carrying it out in two shorter sections rather than all at once.
