Greater Lincolnshire food, drink and beer festival part of bumper British summer next year at Lincoln Castle

Lincolnshire Day

A brand new event celebrating the very best food, drink and beer in the county will be coming to Lincoln Castle during next year's summer holidays.

The event will showcase the wealth of fantastic food, drink and beer producers we have across Greater Lincolnshire, and will include an array of food from around the county and a craft beer tent featuring local brews from our incredible artisan producers and our biggest names alike.

Lincoln Castle will be collaborating with local event producers Major Label, to host this special event.

The celebration of food and drink will be part of a huge summer of events at the Castle throughout June, July and August.

There will be something for everyone with live music, food and drink, and family fun, incorporating all our bank holidays, key celebrations, and iconic sporting events for a truly Great British summer.

The summer festival season at Lincoln Castle will launch with the Great British Outdoor picnic, a chance for people to come together over the Queen's Jubilee bank holiday weekend in June and culminate with the return of the Steampunk Festival to its spiritual home at the castle over the August bank holiday weekend.

Cllr Colin Davie, executive councillor for environment and economy, said:

"We want this event to showcase the excellent food and drink producers we have in the county, and provide support to the sector as it continues to recover from the effects of Covid-19.

"We're also building this event with sustainability in mind, adopting the principles of our Green Masterplan as the Castle embarks on its journey to be a net zero carbon visitor attraction."

There is a call for Greater Lincolnshire businesses to apply to be part of the event, and interested businesses can register their interest.

Cllr Lindsey Cawrey, executive councillor for heritage, said:

"We may only just be coming into autumn, but the team at Lincoln Castle are already thinking about making next summer our biggest one yet, with a packed schedule of events for everyone.

"Over the past two years, Lincoln Castle has become a much-loved green, social space for families and friends.

"Next year's bursting events schedule will see the site, once again, become a vivid and historic backdrop for music, entertainment, and excellent eats."

You can follow Lincoln Castle on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, or sign up to the newsletter at www.lincolncastle.com, to be amongst the first to hear further details of next summer's events.

County council leader, Cllr Martin Hill, explained the significance of announcing the food and drink festival on Lincolnshire Day:

"Food and drink plays such an important role in the economy and culture of Greater Lincolnshire.

"We can easily give Lincolnshire the title of 'food capital of the UK', because we provide an eighth of the country's food.

"This event will be another opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate our local producers and reinforce that title."
