A section of the uneven road is going to have extensive re-working to smooth out the top surface and protect services sited underneath.
After a series of recent inspections, LCC has put a plan in place to level out subsidence of Boston Road South in Holbeach, Spalding.
The council’s highways department will carry out intervention works in an effort to stop further slippage of the road’s subterrain. The works will make the road level and even whilst not disrupting the water service that sits below.
During consultation, it emerged that the road’s movement is not a reaction to any assets that are under the road, nor is it a result of any works that have previously taken place.
The way this road has moved under the flow of traffic over a period of time is an anomaly which will take remedial works to repair.
After a combined series of assessments between LCC and Anglian Water, it’s now been confirmed that the newly-installed water-supply assets are also intact and working as needed.
The plan for works along the stretch of road will begin on February 10 and 11, they will happen during off-peak times to help minimise the disruption to residents, businesses and road users.
Richard Fenwick, county highways manager for Lincolnshire County Council said: “The work will involve a small section of the road surface being taken off and the area underneath then being filled with an aggregate material before re-surfacing.
“By carrying out the works in this way, essential services sited below the road will not be effected and the current uneven road surface will be returned to level.
“We thank everyone concerned for their patience in this matter.”
